Betty Makena had on July 22, 2023 been arrested at Black Devil area in Jomvu Sub-county and charged with failing to display Prescriped Warning Signs informing members of the public that the sale of available alcoholic drinks for persons below the age of eighteen years is prohibited by law.

Betty who appeared before Mombasa senior resident magistrate, David Odhiambo yesterday, faced another count of selling alcoholic drinks without liquor license contrary to section 7(1)(b) of the alcoholic drinks control act. No4 of 20210.

She pleaded guilty to her charges and was handed a Kshs.25,000 fine or she risk being jailed for three months.
