Mombasa Soccer Player Charged For Sharing Nude Images of His Wife on Social Media

A Mombasa footballer star Swalleh Salim Chacha, has been charged for the  offences of  wrongful distribution of obscene or intimate images and cyber harassment contrary to section 37 and 27 (c) of the computer misuse and cyber crime act  respectively.

According to the documents presented in court when chacha appeared before mombasa senior resident Magistrates David Odhiambo on Friday  

The charges read in part, “ Swalleh Salim Chacha , on 28th and 28th days of December, 2021, at an unknown place,within the republic of Kenya  wrongfully distributed obscene and intimate images of his wife through WhatsApp messager account in contravention of section 37 of the computer misuse and cyber crime act  no.5 of 2018.

Chacha faced a second count of cyber harassment after he, through his WhatsApp and imo accounts, sent text messages that were grossly offensive in nature and detrimentally affected his wife.

Chacha is a football star who joined Bandari football club in 2017 before he moved to Mathare FC on loan in 2019.

According to information obtained from Bandari football club digital sites, Chacha was an excellent defender who was among the youngest stars promoted from the youth system of Bandari and was joining Mathare to gain an extra edge of experience.

Chacha however pleaded not guilty to all charges and  realised on a ksh.200,000 bond or ksh.50,000 cash bail.

The matter will be mentioned on 4th March 2025.
