A man, alongside his girlfriend, has been arrested in connection to the offence of circualting Obscene photos of his former girlfriend on social media.
The two Jackson Wamalwa, 25, and Michelle Luyeku 23 years were yesterday arrested by officers from Kongowea police station after investigations revealed that Wamalwa had shared obsence videos of his e-x girlfriend to Luyeku who is now his current girlfriend,
Mombasa county police commander Peter Kimani has confirmed the arrest, saying the two are in police custody awaiting court arraignment on Monday.
The duo was arrested in Kongowea yesterday and are expected to be arraigned tomorrow since section 37 of the Act criminalizes the wrongful distribution of the obscene intimate images as they did through social media", Kimani noted
The police Boss, however, issued a stern warning to young people against misuse of mobile phones and social media to spoil their lifes as ch act amount to criminal offences, which are punishable by law.
Kimani further called on parents to play their part and educate their adolescent youths on the dangers of such acts.
"Let the relavant bodies,among them the media ,civil socities sensitize the community on risks of technology facilitated gender based violence (TFGBV) which has contributed to the loss of many lives through acts of sharing obscene images, or serving long jail terms ", he added.
According to police the suspects will be charged with threatening to kill his ex- girlfriend, cyber harrashment, violation of privacy, and sexual harrashment.
