MOMBASA- Two Men Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary after Breaking into a Shop

Two men were today morning arrested in Likoni,  Mombasa, on suspicion of breaking into a shop doing away with assorted items woth over kshs.20,000.

The two, Protus John Rioba aged 26 and Edward Omondi Osina 39, were arrested by officers from Inuka police station  following a tip-off from members of the public of an ongoing burglary incident at around 3:50 am .

Likoni sub-county police commander, Joseph Mutungi,said they received intelligence reports at around 3:50 am that a shop belonging to Gift Kanana in Hakika area within Shikaadabu had been broken into and rushed to the scene where they found  that the suspects had already escaped.

In a hot pursuit, the officers managed to arrest two suspects.

The two suspects were escorted and placed at Inuka police station, where they are being processed awaiting for court arraignment on Friday.

"We thank members of the public for their cooperation in giving information. We urge anyone who might have fallen victim of burglary to report to Inuka police station to help identify the suspects." Mutungi added.

During the operation, one craw bar, a pair of snips, assorted goods worth over kshs.20,000, used face masks, and a grey mavin believed to be used to hide their heads during their operations were recovered.

The police boss also issued a stern warning to all criminal elements urging them to cease their activities or face the full force of the law.
