A bodaboda rider in Likoni, Mombasa, is nursing serious injuries after was allegedly assaulted by a man who suspected him of having an intimate affair with his wife.
The man identified as Mwalimu Athman Fujo is said to have launched a manhunt on Salim Tuji after he found out that Tuji was in a love relationship with his 23-year-old wife.
Police reports indicated that the assailant had posed as a passenger to lure the boda boda rider into the trap.
"We received a distress call that there was a person who was being assaulted within Vyemani village in Shikaadabu ward, officers rushed to the scene, upon arrival they established that one man, a boda boda rider, identified as Salim Tuji had been seriously assaulted by another man after he suspected him of having a love affair with his 23-year-old wife" the report read in part.
The suspect posed as a passenger who wanted to be transported from kona police stage to Vyemani but on arrival, he drew a panga from his wrist and decended on the rider, leaving him with multiple injuries in the head.
The victim was rushed to Likoni sub-county hospital, where he's receiving treatment while Fujo was arrested and escorted to inuka police station.
Likoni sub-county police commander Joseph Mutungi, confirmed that the suspect is currently detained at Inuka police station pending court arraignment on Monday where he will be charged with the offence of Assault causing actual bodily harm contrary to Section 251 of Penal Code.
